2011 GWINNETT BRAVES TRAINEE PROGRAM


The Gwinnett Braves are looking for hard working, enthusiastic individuals for their 2012 Trainee Program. This program is designed for applicants who are interested in pursuing a career in professional sports. Not only will trainees gain valuable experience in the day-to-day operations of a professional baseball club, they will also have the opportunity to build a network within the sports industry. Trainee positions are divided by specific department but also offer the opportunity to learn in other areas of the operation. Trainees are expected to work regular office hours in addition to G-Braves home games and outside events. The work schedule will include nights, weekends, and holidays from January to the end of the season. As an extension of our front office staff, trainees are expected to be team players within the organization while maintaining a professional attitude. Trainee positions pay an hourly rate and are not subject to health benefits or paid time off.


Stadium Operations Trainee

The Stadium Operations Trainee assists in general facility operations and event management. The Stadium Operations Trainee reports directly to the Stadium Operations Manager and Coordinator.

Responsibilities:
1. Directly responsible for over 100 events each year
2. Game management and implementing event itineraries
3. Overseeing a parking staff of 20 and implementing Game Day Parking procedures
4. Supervising daily operations and maintenance of a 10,000 seat ballpark
5. Developing annual budget and capital expense requests
6. Hiring/Supervising 100 seasonal employees
7. Reporting all payroll and related personnel paperwork to the Atlanta Braves
8. Purchasing materials relevant to the maintenance of the ballpark
9. Maintaining sales accounts with stadium related vendors
10. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager concerning ballpark improvements, expenses, stadium incidents, employees, and special events

Ticket Sales Trainee

Ticket Sales Trainees will work directly with the entire Ticket Sales Staff to generate multiple ticket package and group ticket sales. Candidate will be responsible for knowing all Gwinnett Braves ticket sales products and identifying what product fits the client/fan the best. Candidate must be able to multi-task in a fast paced sales driven environment. This position is call-heavy and candidate must be able to handle success and rejection in a positive manner. Ticket Sales Trainees should have excellent people skills, time management and be highly organized. Trainees must also be prepared to work long hours and maintain a professional attitude and appearance. Candidate must be a team player willing to help out wherever they are needed including other departments in the organization.

Responsibilities:
1. Generate package and group ticket sales
2. Cold call perspective customers in order to meet weekly, monthly, and seasonal sales goals
3. Create and implement different theme nights to drive group revenue
4. Manage renewal accounts while also being responsible for generating new business
4. Responsible for ensuring that all fans have an enjoyable time at the ballpark
5. Manage the Ticket Sales Table during home games to assist with customer service and generate sales
6. Supervise different pre-game group areas
7. Visit all personal clients and prospects during games
8. Be willing and available to help out in other duties assigned

Ticket Operations Trainee

The Ticket Operations Trainee will assist the Ticket Manager in all aspects of ticket department.

Responsibilities:
1. Managing daily activities in the Box Office
2. Processing phone and walk-up ticket orders using Architics Ticketing System (Ticketmaster)
3. Managing Box Office during games, including supervising game day ticket sellers and addressing any customer service issues that may arise
4. Working at the Will Call ticket table during game days
5. Balancing money drawers and preparing cash deposits at conclusion of each work day
6. Providing excellent customer service to all customers
7. Assisting with distribution of season tickets, suite tickets, mini plans and parking passes
8. Servicing season ticket accounts and facilitating season ticket exchanges
9. Generating season ticket and partial ticket plan sales
10. Assisting with mascot appearances around the Gwinnett area, including performaing as the mascot
11. Assisting with tarp pulls when weather requires the field to be covered
12. Assist in all other areas as needed, including providing support for special events run by other departments

Community and Promotions Trainee

The Community and Promotions Trainee will assist the Marketing and Promotions Manager as well as the Community Affairs Manager in various aspects of the departments. These aspects include but are not limited to graphic design, scheduling community appearances, developing theme nights, as well as assisting with the Gwinnett Braves Kids Club, the Braves Foundation and special events. This job requires strong creativity and event management skills. In season responsibilities include assisting with game day promotions/ ceremonies, attending community events, recruiting/ communicating with Kids Club members, and managing donation requests.

Requirements:
1. College student or recent graduate working toward/possessing a degree in Sports Management, Communications, Marketing or in a related field
2. Ability to design and execute community theme nights, special events or programs
3. Team player who demonstrates a positive attitude and can problem solve effectively
4. Detail-oriented, organized and excellent verbal and written communication skills
5. Ability to multi-task and openness to varying duties
6. Flexible schedule: available January - September; able to work nights and weekends on non-game days as needed

Responsibilities:
1. Aid the Community Affairs Manager in Braves Foundation events and fundraisers, community events, Kids Club, camps, donations, and other Gwinnett Braves community programs and initiatives
2. Aid the Marketing and Promotions Manager in developing and executing theme nights and special events for Gwinnett Braves games that will attract regional attention and increase attendance
3. Assist in the execution of on-field activities both pre-game and in-game
4. Oversee mascot and promotions team appearance schedule
5. Execute the marketing efforts of the team through pocket schedule distribution, ad design, and other grassroots marketing efforts
6. Collect and fulfill donation requests
7. Help maintain the Gwinnett Braves Web site and promotional calendar
8. Write community stories for the newsletter, playbill, and social media outlets
9. Assist in the social media efforts of the team (Facebook, Twitter, etc.)
10. Be willing and available to help out in other departments with duties assigned

Media Relations Trainee

The Media Relations Trainee will assist the Media Relations Manager in all aspects of the public affairs department including but not limited to; creating and editing media guides and publications, writing game notes and post-game stories, recording and updating statistical records as well as management of the press box and media requests.

Requirements:
1. College student or recent graduate working toward/possessing a degree in Sports Management, Public Relations, Communications or related field
2. Detail-oriented, organized and excellent verbal and written communication skills
3. Ability to multi-task and work with strict deadlines
4. Very experienced with baseball rules and scoring
5. Experience with graphic design (Photoshop CS3, Illustrator, InDesign)
6. Ability to learn multiple computer programs quickly
7. Website editing and HTML code writing knowledge a plus
8. Flexible schedule: available January - September; able to work nights and weekends on non-game days as needed

Responsibilities:
1. Assist in maintaining Gwinnett Braves team website
2. Assist in the social media efforts of the team including Twitter and Facebook
3. Create and update statistical records for media distribution
4. Write pre-game notes and post-game stories
5. Write and edit publications including media guide, magazines and gameday guides
6. Collect, copy and distribute press "clippings" to entire front office
7. Produce scorecards and statistical inserts for fans
8. Assist with media requests including credential and player requests
9. Press box hospitality
10. Fulfills other responsibilities as assigned by other Department Managers, or General Manager

Production Trainee

The incoming trainee will work directly with the Gwinnett Braves Game Production Manager in all aspects of the production process. Off-season responsibilities include and are not limited to video shooting, editing, graphic design, and assisting with off-site production. During season the trainee's responsibilities include those aspects mentioned along with participation in game day productions. In game productions will include Technical Directing, Music, and video board playback. This trainee position offers a unique hands-on experience for those students interested in fulfilling a career in television production, multi media design, or stadium entertainment.

Requirements:

The Trainee position will require a love for the game of baseball, an eye for detail and dedication throughout the baseball season. Trainees are expected to be available for the months of January - September. Prior to the start of the season this position's hours are more flexible according to the student's schedule. During the baseball season, hours are more demanding and trainees are required to fulfill game day responsibilities for all game day events as well as assisting with pre-production duties falling on non-game days.

Responsibilities:

The trainee will possess an enthusiasm for sports and graphics and understand baseball. Previous knowledge or experience with non-linear editing, video production, and graphic design are a plus for this position. A good working knowledge of Photoshop is required. Candidate must be well organized; detail oriented and able to work on multiple projects with tight deadlines. Candidates must be quick on their feet and adjust well to high pressure situations.
