Hagerstown Bests Lakewood in Game Two, Taylor Homers, Keyes Blasts a Pair

June 29, 2011
Hagerstown, MD-The Hagerstown Suns (4-2, 44-32) walked off on the Lakewood BlueClaws (3-3, 36-38) in the bottom of the 14th inning on a solo home run from RF Kevin Keyes, as part of a multi-homer outing on Tuesday night at Municipal Stadium. Suns LHP Matt Grace tossed 5.0 innings allowing three runs, two earned on five hits with one walk and five strikeouts.

Lakewood scored two runs in the 1st inning on a sacrifice fly by CF Zach Collier and 2B Carlos Perdomo scored on an errant throw from Suns SS Jason Martinson.

In the 2nd stanza, Keyes launched his 7th home run of the season over both tiers of signage in right field, a solo blast to put the Suns on the board.

In the 5th inning, Perdomo wrapped an RBI groundout to Martinson which scored the single of 3B Travis Mattair.

BlueClaws LHP Jessie Biddle mowed through the Suns lineup and surrendered just one earned run on four hits, while fanning eight.

Down 3-1 in the bottom of the 9th inning, C Cole Leonida was hit by a pitch from RHP Juan Sosa, who would go on to blow his third save of the season. Sosa allowed a one out, game-tying two-run home run to CF Michael Taylor, a lazer beam over the center field barrier to force extra innings.

Lakewood RHP Chase Johnson gunned down the Suns through 4.0 perfect scoreless innings.

Suns RHP Ben Graham motored through frames 11 through 13 without allowing a run, giving way to the winning pitcher, RHP Sam Brown (2-1), who allowed no hits and one walk in the 14th frame.

In the home half of the 14th inning, Keyes crushed his second home run of the game, again over everything in right field, a walk-off blow to the visiting BlueClaws to send Hagerstown off as winners. On the business end of that pitch was the losing pitcher of record, RHP Tyler Knigge (1-3) who did not record an out in his allowance of the walk-off triumph for Hagerstown.

The Suns will host the BlueClaws for a 7:05pm first pitch on Wednesday night. The radio flagship of the Hagerstown Suns, WJEJ AM 1240, will provide wall-to-wall radio coverage beginning with a 6:50pm Break Away 2 Sports Lounge Pre-game Show. The Suns will summon RHP Taylor Jordan (8-3, 2.83) to the mound to face Lakewood RHP Lendy Castillo (0-1, 3.60).
