Hanley Ramirez To Rehab With Hammerheads

Three-time All-Star Brings Star Power To Fins & Feathers Finale
August 25, 2011
Florida Marlins All-Star shortstop Hanley Ramirez is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment with Jupiter starting Friday, just in time for the final four Fins & Feathers Series games of 2011.

The 2009 National League batting champion sprained his shoulder while attempting a diving, over-the-shoulder catch against the Mets on August 2nd. While Ramirez has been working out in Jupiter, Friday's contest against the Palm Beach Cardinals will be his first game action since the injury.

Ramirez, who had started each of the last three All-Star games prior to this season, returns to Roger Dean Stadium for the second time in 2011. In early June, he went 5-for-8 in two rehab games with the Hammerheads while recovering from a back strain.

When Ramirez enters the Jupiter clubhouse, he'll find some familiar faces sharing the locker room. Fellow Marlins Scott Cousins and Donnie Murphy are also rehabbing with Jupiter, and all three are expected in Friday night's lineup.

Though Friday night's game takes place at Jupiter's home Roger Dean Stadium, Ramirez and the Hammerheads will be the visiting team. That's because Hanley's rehab coincides with the final set of Fins & Feathers Series games, matching the Hammerheads with their roommates the Palm Beach Cardinals. Roger Dean Stadium is the only complex in the country to house two full-season Minor League Baseball teams.

Friday's game kicks off at 6:35 p.m. with Rob Rasmussen on the mound for Jupiter. The left-hander was the Marlins' 2nd round pick in 2010 and leads the Hammerheads with 10 wins on the season. The series then continues through Monday, with Jupiter playing the home team in the final three games.

Saturday's game is also the final Slammin' Saturday of the season at Roger Dean Stadium, with FIREWORKS and a post-game concert following the matchup of Marlins' top pitching prospect Chad James and Tyler Lyons, who tossed the only no-hitter in Palm Beach history earlier this year.

Tickets to see Ramirez and the Hammerheads are just $8.50 for adults, $6.50 for children and seniors, and can be purchased at the Roger Dean Stadium box office or online at Ticketmaster.com.
