Hansen Joins Clinton as Phillips Heads West

Anthony Phillips promoted to High Desert, Shaver Hansen replaces him on 25-man roster

Clinton, IA - The Clinton LumberKings, in conjunction with the Seattle Mariners have announced the following transaction for the Clinton 25-man roster: infielder Anthony Phillips has been promoted to high-A High Desert and has been replaced by infielder Shaver Hansen, called up from extended Spring Training.

Phillips, 21, hit .138 with a home run and five RBI in 10 games with the LumberKings this season. The Duranville, Cape Town, South Africa native is the first Clinton player to be promoted this season.

Hansen, 23, joins the LumberKings for the third time in his three-year professional career. Seattle's sixth-round pick out of Baylor University in 2009, Hansen hit .205 with seven RBI in 36 games with Clinton in 2009 and .167 with four RBI in 16 games in 2010. He finished last season in High Desert, batting .217 with six homers and 29 RBI for the Mavericks.

The moves give Clinton a total of 25 active players with one on the disabled list. Hansen has not yet chosen a uniform number, but will be available for tonight's 6:30 PM game against Peoria.
