Hootz and Holly Celebrate Owlz Shutout by Announcing Impending Owlet

August 4, 2012

Hootz and Holly celebrated the Owlz 2nd shutout of the season by announcing that they will be bringing a little owlet into this world next year.

During the middle of Saturday's game, Holly told Hootz that the two will be expecting next Opening Day.

On the field, Orem's pitching staff put together its best performance of the season, combining for nine shutout innings. Aaron Newcomb, Mark Sappington and Michael Morin each fired three innings, giving up one hit in each of their appearances.

Newcomb drew the start on Saturday, giving up a double in the 2nd, while striking out one.

Sappington pitched the middle innings and was dominant as a pitcher could be, striking out five Chukars batters and only allowing an infield single.

Morin also had his best outing of the year, giving up a double in the 8th, while striking out four.

Orem got one run in the 3rd, 5th, 6th and 8th innings. Capote led the Owlz at the plate, going 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs. He doubled in Chevy Clarke in the 3rd and his sacrifice fly scored Sherman Johnson in the 5th. Clarke had a RBI infield single with the bases loaded in the 6th and a sacrifice fly, which scored Andrew Ray in the 8th.

The Owlz are now in first place, one game in front of Idaho Falls. The rubber match of the three game series is on Sunday afternoon. It will be Dollar Dayz at the ballpark.
