Iowa Cubs' 2010 Field Staff Announced

Des Moines, IA- Today the Chicago Cubs announced its minor league coaching staffs and joining Ryne Sandberg, who was announced Iowa's skipper last week at the Winter Meetings, are Pitching Coach Mike Mason, Hitting Coach Von Joshua and Athletic Trainer Matt Johnson.

Sandberg, 50, spent last season managing the Double-A Tennessee Smokies and led the team to the Southern League Championship Series. Prior to that he spent two season with Class-A Peoria before spending the 2009 season with AA Tennessee. Sandberg will be Iowa's 16th manager since its affiliation with the Cubs began in 1981.

Mason begins his third season as pitching coach of the Iowa Cubs. He served as the Kansas City Royals minor league pitching coordinator in 2007 and as their Minor League Pitching Instructor for three seasons before that.

Joshua will return to the Iowa Cubs for his fifth year as hitting coach and his eighth year with the organization. Joshua is in his 27th season as a hitting coach in professional baseball. Joshua was named the Chicago Cubs hitting coach on June 14, 2009, replacing Gerald Perry.

Athletic Trainer Matt Johnson returns to Iowa for his third season and his ninth in the Cubs' organization.
