Aberdeen, MD - In a game stopped due to rain before the bottom of the ninth inning, the Aberdeen Ironbirds lost to the Jamestown Jammers by a score of
3-2.
The IronBirds scored first in the bottom of the third inning. With Michael Rooney at second base and two outs, Trent Mummey hit an infield single that
Rooney came all the way around to score on and it gave the IronBirds 1-0.
In the fourth inning, the Jammers answered back with one run of their own. With two outs, Aaron Dudley hit an RBI single to right field that scored
Ryan Fisher and evened up the game at 1-1.
The IronBirds would take the lead back in the bottom of the fourth. Sammie Starr led off the inning with a single, then went over to second base when
the first basemen, Aaron Senne dropped a pickoff attempt. The next batter Adam Gaylord, hit a single that allowed Starr to scored and gave the
IronBirds a 2-1 lead.
Jamestown scored twice in the top of the fifth inning to take the lead. With one out in the inning Danny Black was at first base and Brent Keys was at
third base. Black attempted to steal second and the throw went into centerfield that allowed Keys to score from third. Then with two outs Marcell
Ozuna hit an RBI single that gave the Jammers a 3-2 lead and eventually the win.
Kenneth Toves came into the game in the fifth inning and got the win going three innings without allowing a run and striking out four batters.
The loss went to Bruno Sanchez who went five innings and gave up three runs on seven hits.
In game two of the series tomorrow night, LHP Justin Anderson (3-2, 4.46) will take on RHP Rett Varner (1-1, 1.69) with a scheduled 7:05 first pitch.
