Burlington, VT - The Aberdeen IronBirds couldn't make it four wins in-a-row on Wednesday night, as they fell to the Vermont Lake Monsters 6-1.

The Lake Monsters took an early lead against RHP Scott Copeland. CF Chad Mozingo led off the inning with a single. Copeland made a pick-off attempt to first base, but 1B David Anderson dropped the ball. The E-3 allowed Mozingo to get to second. He advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt and scored on a wild pitch, giving Vermont a 1-0 lead.

Vermont extended the lead in the second. With the bases loaded and nobody out, Mozingo hit into a 6-3 double play. The DP allowed a run to score from third, and put the IronBirds into a 2-0 hole.

In the top of the third, the IronBirds got on the scoreboard. SS Michael Rooney and CF Trent Mummey hit back-to-back singles. 2B Omar Casamayor laid down a sacrifice bunt, moving them up a base. LF Kipp Schutz lifted a sac fly to center, scoring Rooney, and pulling Aberdeen to within one.

Copeland left the game after the fifth inning. He allowed two runs on two hits. Copeland walked five and struck out seven.

The Lake Monsters broke the game open in the seventh. 3B Jack Walker led off the inning with a walk. He was sacrificed to second by Mozingo. 2B Blake Kelso reached on an infield single, putting runners on the corners with one out. SS Jason Martinson grounded out to short, knocking in Walker from third, and extending the lead to two. With a runner at second and two outs, DH Russell Moldenhauer singled, knocking in Kelso. Moldenhauer stole second and scored on LF Justin Miller's double. Miller then scored on an RBI-single from RF Wade Moore, making it 6-1.
