Aberdeen, MD - Aberdeen starting pitcher Justin Moore surrendered just three runs on four hits in five strong innings of work in his return to the rotation, as the IronBirds defeated the Staten Island Yankees 5-3.

Moore made his first start Tuesday night since July 15th. The Yankees got to him in the first inning. Moore hit the leadoff man Eduardo Sosa with a pitch. He then surrendered a single to Garrison Lassiter. Kelvin De Leon knocked in Sosa with a double. Kyle Roller grounded out to second, knocking in Lassiter. Mike Ferraro then knocked in De Leon with a single, making it 3-0.

The IronBirds got on the scoreboard in their half of the first. Trent Mummey led the inning off with a double. Adam Gaylord knocked him in with an RBI-single.

Aberdeen tied it up in the second. With two men out, Joe Oliveira doubled. He advanced to third on a passed ball. Mummey knocked in Oliveira with a single. Austin Knight then hit an infield single, knocking in Rooney and knotting the game up at three.

The IronBirds continued to knock around Yankees' starter Nick Turley in the third. The left-hander walked Gaylord, before surrendering back-to-back singles to Kipp Schutz and David Anderson. Dashenko Ricardo then hit an RBI-single giving Aberdeen its first lead of the ball game. With the bases loaded, Turley got Oliveira to ground into a 6-4-3 double play. The twin killing knocked in a run, however, and gave the IronBirds a 5-3 lead.

Moore (3-0) picked up the win Tuesday night. After allowing three runs on three hits in the first, the right-hander allowed no runs on one hit over the next four frames. Turley (1-3) took the loss. Steven Mazur (4) pitched a scoreless ninth to get the save.

The IronBirds welcome the Jamestown Jammers (Class-A Short-Season affiliate of the Florida Marlins) to town Wednesday for a three-game series. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.

The Aberdeen IronBirds have sold out their season tickets for the ninth straight season. Group packages and standing room only tickets, however, are still available for the 2010 season. For ticket information, contact our box office at (410) 297-9292 or visit us online at www.IronBirdsbaseball.com.
