Jacobs, Bisons Pound PawSox, 10-3

Wearing a Buffalo uniform for the first time, first baseman Mike Jacobs homered and had three hits in an over-powering 10-3 victory over the Red Sox on Sunday afternoon at McCoy Stadium. Jesus Feliciano added a home run as the Bisons pounded out a season-high 19 hits.

Jacobs was designated for assignment by the Mets on April 18 and a week later, found himself in the Bisons' lineup. The 29-year old played seven games to begin the year with the Mets, but accepted his assignment to Buffalo to fill the void left at first base by Ike Davis's promotion.

The slugger quickly found a comfort level with his new teammates. He doubled home a run in the first inning and singled again in the second. In the sixth inning, Jacobs launched a mammoth home run to right field off of former Bisons' hurler, Chad Paronto. That blast, which came right after Feliciano's two-run homer, all but sealed the Herd's second straight win.

Jacobs, however, wasn't the only impressive offense display on Saturday. Six different players had multi-hit performances, including four hits from Feliciano. The Bisons' 2009 MVP scored three times and drove in three runs while raising his average to .368.

After scoring two runs in the first inning, Jason Pridie, Feliciano and Mike Hessman all drove in runs in the second. Josh Thole's sacrifice fly in the third built a 6-0 lead for Buffalo.

In the sixth, Feliciano and Jacobs clinched the victory with their back-to-back home runs. It was the first time the Bisons accomplished the feat since Rene Rivera and Andy Green teamed up on longballs on August 3, 2009 in Toledo.

All the offense went to the benefit of Pat Misch. The southpaw was solid through seven innings of work. Adam Pettyjohn hurled shutout relief for the final two innings.

BISONS NOTES:Mike Cervenak went 3-5 to extend his hit streak to 10 games. It's the first game during the stretch the veteran has had more than one hit...One of the hottest Bisons' bats, Ruben Tejada was the only batter in the lineup who failed to get a hit. He had entered the game on a five-game hit streak...The game featured only four strikeouts and none before PawSox reliever Ramon Ramirez fanned Russ Adams in the eighth inning.
