JAXX WALK-OFF WITH SERIES WIN

JACKSON, TENN. (August 25, 2010) - For the second time in the homestand, the Jaxx walked-off with a victory in the final inning. Alex Liddi drove in the game winning run in the ninth inning to clinch the series on Wednesday afternoon at Pringles Park, 5-4. The Jaxx will stay at least 4 ½ games up in the wildcard race with 11 games remaining in the regular season.

Alex Liddi was 3-for-4 with the game winning RBI and a run scored. Liddi has now 84 RBI's on the season. Nate Tenbrink scored three runs and was 3-for-4 with a triple and an RBI. The Jaxx had 11 hits in the game. The Smokies had eight hits, but no player had a multi-hit game.

Cesar Jimenez (1-0) won his first game with the Jaxx in his fourth appearance. Jimenez allowed a homer in two innings and struck out two batters. Kyle Smit (3-1) suffered the loss by giving up the game winning run in the ninth. Anthony Vasquez, the Diamond Jaxx starter took a no decision and left after five innings. Vasquez struck out seven and walked none, allowing three runs (two earned) on seven hits.

The Jaxx scored on an RBI single from Nate Tenbrink in the bottom of the third that scored Brandon Bantz. The Jaxx jumped out to a 1-0 advantage.

Tennessee answered by scoring three runs with two outs in the top of the fourth inning. Tony Thomas and Mario Mercedes drove in runs and the third scored on the second Diamond Jaxx error of the game.

Johan Limonta drove in Alex Liddi and Nate Tenbrink with a single with two outs to tie the game. Limonta's 77th and 78th RBI of the season made it 3-3.

In the bottom of the seventh inning the Jaxx got a sacrifice fly from Guillermo Quiroz scoring Nate Tenbrink. The Jaxx went ahead 4-3 in the seventh.

In the top of the eighth, Brett Jackson hit a solo homer off of Cesar Jimenez that tied the game at 4-4. In the bottom of the ninth, Alex Liddi scored Nate Tenbrink to win the game in the ninth inning.

The Jaxx will open a four-game series with the Montgomery Biscuits on Thursday night at Riverwalk Stadium, with first pitch at 7:05. RHP Jarrett Grube (3-4, 3.07) will start for the Jaxx and RHP Pau l Phillips (5-2, 3.98) takes the hill for Montgomery.

The Diamond Jaxx will return to Pringles Park on Tuesday, August 31 for the final home stand of the season. The Jaxx will host the Mississippi Braves for three games and Chattanooga for four.
