The Toronto Blue Jays today announced that they have signed RHP JUSTIN GERMANO to a minor league contract with an invitation to major league spring training.

Germano, 30, spent the first half of the 2012 season with the Pawtucket Red Sox and was 9-4 with a 2.40ERA in 17 games/16 starts. He struck out 72 batters and walked just 13 in 105.0 innings of work for the PawSox. Germano was elected to the 2012 International League All-Star Team but was promoted to the Boston Red Sox before the All-Star Game was played at Coca-Cola Field in Buffalo.

Germano pitched in one game for Boston, tossing 5.2 innings of shutout baseball in a no-decision against the New York Yankees on July 7. He was then traded to the Chicago Cubs on July 19 and went 2-10 with a 6.75ERA in 13 games (64.0IP, 81H, 19BB, 45K).
