JetHawks Walk the Line to Sweep 66ers

Inland Empire gives up back-to-back bases loaded walks
July 13, 2010
San Bernardino, Calif.- The Lancaster JetHawks (9-10, 32-57) were able to capitalize on back-to-back bases loaded walks in the seventh to sweep pass the Inland Empire 66ers (9-10, 35-54) by the score of 3-2 Monday night in front of 1,517 fans at Arrowhead Credit Union Park.

Inland Empire gave up the go-ahead runs in the seventh on back-to-back bases loaded walks. 66ers' starter Will Savage allowed three straight singles to load the bases up and then followed by walking in the first run of the inning. Javier Solano came in relief of Savage and walked in the second run to put the JetHawks up 3-2.

JetHawks' starter Dallas Keuchel (5-7) picked up the complete game victory, his league leading third complete game of the season. He was able to hold off a late ninth inning rally by Inland Empire getting the final three outs, stranding the potential go-ahead runs at first and second. Keuchel retired 14 batters at one point until he gave up a walk in the ninth. He gave up just two runs on three hits, while striking out four and walking four batters.

Inland Empire broke a 1-1 tie in the fourth on Alex Garabedian's RBI single, scoring Travis Denker, who earlier reached on a double to give them the 2-1 lead. The 66ers scored the first run of the ballgame in the first on Denker's fifth home run of the season, a solo shot to right to put them up early 1-0.

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Manny Ramirez made his third straight rehab appearance with the 66ers going 0-for-3 with a strikeout and two groundouts. In his three games with the 66ers he went a combined 0-for-9 with five strikeouts.

66ers' right-hander Will Savage (2-2) was the hard luck loser. He went six and one-third innings, allowing three runs on seven hits, while striking out three and walking three.

The 66ers will have an off day tomorrow and then hit the road on Wednesday to begin a six-game road trip. Wednesday will kickoff a three-game series against the Lake Elsinore Storm starting at 11:05 a.m. All games can be heard on KCAA 1050 AM with Sam Farber the voice of the 66ers calling all the action.
