Kaleb Cowart named to MWL Top Prospects list

No. 8 Top Prospect according to Baseball America

Cedar Rapids, IA - Former Kernel Kaleb Cowart was tabbed as the #8 Midwest League Top Prospect in a list released by Baseball America.

Cowart played in 66 games for the Kernels in 2012 before being promoted to Inland Empire after the first half of the season. He hit .293 with nine HR and 54 and was named as a reserve infielder on the Western Division All-Star Team. Cowart was selected by the Angels in the first round of the 2010 draft out of Adel (GA) HS.

Two players from the Minnesota Twins, the new parent club of the Kernels, were named to the Top Prospect List: 3b Miguel Sano (#2) and 2b/of Eddie Rosario (#12). The Fort Wayne Tin Caps (San Diego) placed five players on the MWL Top 20 Prospect List.

The Cedar Rapids Kernels open the 2013 Midwest League Season at home on Thursday, April 4th against the Beloit Snappers at 6:35 pm. Season ticket packages and 10-game anytime coupon books for the 2013 season are on sale now. Individual game tickets for the 2013 season will go on sale to the general public on Monday, March 18th at 10 am.
