Keyes, Hill Lead P-Nat to Rain Shortened Season Finale Win
The P-Nats got onto the board in the fourth inning against Blue Rocks starter Matt Ridings. Matt Skole walked and Kevin Keyes hit a two-run homer to the opposite field to give Wilmington a 2-0 lead. The 21 homers are the third most in a season for a Potomac National as are the 78 RBI for Keyes.
Potomac added another run in the fifth inning on a Matt Fields fielding error that scored Erick Fernandez to increase their lead to 3-0.
Taylor Hill got the start for Potomac and was sensational. He tossed five scoreless innings with three of the innings being of the 1-2-3 variety.
The game was delayed by over an hour due to rain and stopped right before the bottom of the sixth as the rain started up again.
Hill (1-1) picks up his first Carolina League win striking out six and allowing three hits over his five innings. Ridings (6-2) gets the loss despite striking out nine batters over five frames.
Potomac finishes the season at 64-75 including a 32-36 mark in the second half.
