RENO, Nev.–In recognition of one of Northern Nevada's most popular athletes, the Reno Aces have announced that Saturday, Sept. 1 will be Konrad Schmidt Bobblehead Night, presented by KOLO 8 News Now.

The unique bobblehead honors Schmidt's standout season at the University of Nevada and his time as one of the Pacific Coast League's premier catchers with the Reno Aces. The right half of the bobblehead features Schmidt in an Aces uniform, while the left half showcases him Wolf Pack silver and blue.

The giveaway is set for Saturday, Sept. 1 when the Aces take-on the Tucson Padres. Tickets for this special giveaway are expected to go very quickly, and fans are encouraged to purchase their tickets in advance. Additionally, the bobbleheads will be given out while supplies last, so fans also are encouraged to arrive early and reserve their space in line.

Schmidt played his lone season for Nevada Head Coach Gary Powers in 2007, batting .349 with eight homers and 47 RBIs for the Wolf Pack. He made his Triple-A debut with the Aces in 2009, before becoming the club's starting catcher in 2011 and 2012. The Santa Rosa, Calif., native was a Triple-A All-Star for Reno in 2011, and he's made two separate stints in the big leagues with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Tonight, the Aces kick-off a four-game series against the Round Rock Express at Aces Ballpark. Tickets for Konrad Schmidt Bobblehead Night and the rest of the remaining 2012 home games are on-sale now at RenoAces.com, by calling (775) 334-7000 or by visiting the Aces Ballpark Ticket Office.
