Kyle Gaedele Named MWL Player of the Week

July 30, 2012
FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Midwest League announced Monday that Fort Wayne TinCaps outfielder Kyle Gaedele has been named Player of the Week for the week of July 23-29. This marks the fourth time a TinCaps player has been honored by the league this season.

In six games this past week, Gaedele hit .353 (6-17) with two doubles, three home runs, and six runs batted in. He also drew six walks, scored four runs, and stole a base. Gaedele has hit .342 in 73 at bats in the month of July.

Since the All-Star break, Gaedele is hitting .337 (35-104), boosting his batting average from .200 to .247. In 31 second-half games, the Arlington Heights, Illinois, native has already bested his first half totals for doubles, home runs and runs batted in.

This award comes on the heels of the TinCaps sweeping the Midwest League awards last week, with Tyler Stubblefield and Johnny Barbato winning Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively. Fort Wayne's other weekly award winner was Adys Portillo, who was named Pitcher of the Week for the week of May 21-27.
