LaHair, Mendoza among PCL All-Stars
LaHair, who leads the PCL with 36 homers and 105 RBIs this season for Triple-A Iowa, was voted to the team at first base. The Iowa infielder put together three huge months to begin the season -- he hit .379 in May and was even more potent in June, when he hit .370 with 10 homers and 25 RBIs in 27 games.
Sacramento's Anthony Recker was selected behind the plate, while Nashville's Taylor Green, Omaha's Johnny Giavotella and Reno veteran Cody Ransom rounded out the All-Star infield.
Giavotella, selected at second base, ranks fourth in the PCL with a .338 average this year, while Ransom ranks second with a .657 slugging percentage. Green, a third baseman, is batting .336 with 22 longballs and 88 RBIs for the Sounds.
Round Rock's Joey Buter, Reno's Collin Cowgill and Sacramento's Jai Miller comprise the outfield. Cowgill ranks second in the circuit with a .354 average and a .430 on-base percentage and also has 30 stolen bases to go along with 70 RBIs.
Mendoza, selected as the top right-handed pitcher, leads the PCL with a 2.15 ERA and ranks third with 11 wins. He was briefly credited with throwing his second career no-hitter July 18 for Omaha, although it was later ruled a one-hitter after the league re-evaluated the scoring of a ninth-inning error later ruled a double.
Albuquerque's Dana Eveland was voted as the top lefty, thanks in-part to his 12 wins, good for second in the circuit. Memphis' Victor Marte was an easy pick for top reliever -- he leads the league with 27 saves for the Redbirds.
Omaha's Clint Robinson made the squad at designated hitter after hitting .329 with 22 homers and 95 RBIs through 129 games. He ranks second in the league with 160 hits.
