Long 2nd Inning Dooms Marauders

Cardinals Chase Burnett with Nine-Run Frame
April 11, 2012

Jupiter, FL- The Bradenton Marauders (2-4) never recovered from a nine-run second inning outburst from the Palm Beach (3-3) bats, falling 10-4 at Roger Dean Stadium. Bradenton mounted a four-run rally in the eighth, but could get no closer.

A.J. Burnett (L 0-2) started and looked sharp in the first. Things came unravelled in the second inning however, as 13 batters came to the plate and nine runs scored. Burnett left after 1.2 innings and was charged with eight runs, five of which were earned. He whiffed four batters in the abbreviated rehab outing.

Seth Maness (1-0) started for Palm Beach and worked efficiently through seven scoreless innings. He scattered six Marauders hits.

Bradenton rallied in the eighth for four runs, batting around against Zach Russell and Aidan Lucas. A 3-4 game by Alex Dickerson was a bright spot for the offense. He drove in two runs with a bases-loaded single in the eighth. Evan Chambers added two singles for the visitors.

The Marauders bullpen avoided trouble, allowing one run over 6.1 innings. Tyler Waldron had two strikeouts in four innings. Zach Foster and Jason Townsend also saw time on the mound.

They return to action tomorrow on the road at Fort Myers at 7:05. The game will be broadcast on News Talk 930 WLSS and online at wlssradio.com.
