MOBILE, Ala. (May 26, 2017) - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, clinched a series victory with a 2-1 win over the Birmingham Barons Friday night at Hank Aaron Stadium.
Grayson Long (3-2) took a no-hitter into the sixth inning before finally allowing an infield single to Eddy Alvarez with one out in the frame. Long worked into the seventh inning for the first time in his career but did not record an out, allowing one run on two hits before departing. He matched his season-high with eight strikeouts.
Mobile (22-26) scored both of its runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. With runners on second and third, Forrestt Allday broke the scoreless tie with an RBI single to left field. David Fletcher came home behind Michael Hermosillo , courtesy of a fielding error. Allday extended his on-base streak to 29 straight games with the hit.
Following Abel De Los Santos ' inning of scoreless relief, Adam Hofacket earned his second save with the BayBears. Hofacket recorded six outs, and the final one came after Birmingham (15-32) loaded the bases in the ninth.
Like Long, Jordan Guerrero (0-7) also notched a quality start. He struck out nine batters, one shy of his season-high, in six-plus innings pitched.
With the victory, the BayBears have now won a season-high five consecutive home games and two straight series wins at Hank Aaron Stadium.
