Loons Celebrate 5th Anniversary!!!

Team announces major capital improvement, commemorative logos and more
August 26, 2011

MIDLAND, Mich. - Prior to the game Friday night, the Great Lakes Loons kicked off the team's 5th Anniversary celebration. It was five years ago Friday when the Great Lakes Loons first announced the team name, unveiled team logos, sold merchandise and introduced Lou E. Loon to the Great Lakes Bay Region in 2006. The team will celebrate the five years throughout the offseason and during all of next season with 5th Anniversary logos, merchandise, ballpark displays, promotions and more.

In conjunction with the celebration, the Loons also announced plans for a major capital improvement known as the Great Lakes Reserve presented by Chemical Bank. This improvement will be a state-of-the-art destination encompassing the entire suite level, featuring a full-service bar that serves as the centerpiece. Other amenities included in the new space will be fully-retractable glass doors offering an open-air stadium experience; 24 full-season ticket opportunities on a private balcony; and single-game table reservations.

"Chemical Bank is excited and honored to be continuing our partnership with the Great Lakes Loons and Michigan Baseball Foundation as the presenting sponsor of the Great Lakes Reserve," Bob Rathbun, Chemical Bank's Community President and Senior Lender, said. "Supporting regional economic growth is an important focus for both Chemical Bank and the Michigan Baseball Foundation, which makes this partnership such a great fit."

Through the continued support of fans attending Loons games and special events at Dow Diamond, as well as individuals and organizations supporting the Michigan Baseball Foundation, Dow Diamond will receive its most significant enhancement since opening its doors in April of 2007. The Loons announced the anniversary on the field of Dow Diamond prior to Friday night's game against the Dayton Dragons. The announcement included the unveiling of a special 5th Anniversary logo, featuring a lifelike Loon taking flight off a glimmering lake. The logo will be featured on limited-edition merchandise, stadium signage and other team-related items.

Over the course of the next year, the Loons will be rolling out many different tributes to former Loons players, and historic moments in the Loons five-year history. Among these tributes include the creation of the 5th Anniversary Loons Team, to be voted on by the fans, and displayed at Dow Diamond in 2012. Additional announcements surrounding the 5th Anniversary will be released throughout the offseason and in 2012.
