August 2, 2012
LANSING, Mich. -- The Lansing Lugnuts announced today that they have extended their player development contract with the Toronto Blue Jays through the 2014 season.

"We are proud to continue our partnership with the Toronto Blue Jays," said Lansing Lugnuts co-owner Tom Dickson. "They're a top notch Major League organization who are outstanding to work with, and it's a pleasure watching the Lugnuts consistently showcase some of the brightest talent in all of the Minor Leagues."

"Everything about Lansing makes this an excellent arrangement for us," said Blue Jays director of Minor League operations Charlie Wilson. "From our relationship with the Lugnuts' front office to the atmosphere and facilities at Cooley Law School Stadium, it was an easy decision to continue our connection to Minor League Baseball in mid-Michigan."

Affiliated with Toronto since 2005, the Lugnuts have produced 40 Midwest League All-Stars; more than 550 victories, five playoff berths, including a 2011 trip to the Mid-West League Championship Series, and 22 Major Leaguers.

"It is our goal to host ballplayers in Lansing with great character as well as great talent," said Lugnuts general manager Nick Grueser. "The Blue Jays have been outstanding in helping us achieve that expectation."

The 2012 edition of the Lugs, laden with blue-chip prospects Aaron Sanchez, Justin Nicolino and Aaron Sanchez, currently boasts the best record in the Midwest League at 70-37. The team set franchise records for most wins at the start of a season and most victories in one half on their way to clinching the first half Eastern Division title and a Midwest League postseason invitation.

Tickets to cheer on the Lansing Lugnuts at Cooley Law School Stadium are available for purchase online at www.lansinglugnuts.com, at the stadium box office, and by calling 517-485-4500.
