Marauders Place Five on All-Star Team

Bradenton's Jarek Cunningham, Ramon Cabrera, Aaron Baker, Kyle McPherson and Brett Lorin were named to the Florida State mid-season All-Star team today. The game will take place in Clearwater on Saturday, June 18.

Jarek Cunningham (INF) - Cunningham enters today tied for the Florida State League lead in extra base hits (31), second in slugging percentage (.599) tied for third in home runs (11), tied for sixth in doubles (15), tied for fourth in triples (five) and third in total bases (112) and OPS (.936)...Cunningham's 31 extra base hits also ranks tied for fifth in all of minor league baseball...Cunningham was selected by the Pirates in the 18th round of the 2008 First-Year Player Draft.

Ramon Cabrera (C) - Cabrera is hitting .336 (36-for-107) with nine doubles, seven RBI and 17 runs scored in 32 games for the Marauders...He opened the 2011 season by hitting at a .396 clip (19-for-48) in the first month of the season...Cabrera was signed by the Pirates as a non-drafted free agent on April 11, 2008...This is the second straight year he has been named to a mid-season All-Star team (also South Atlantic League in 2010).

Aaron Baker (1B) - Baker is hitting .270 (50-for-185) with nine doubles, seven home runs and 39 RBI in 50 games...He enters today ranked seventh in the FSL in RBI...This is the second straight year he has been named to a mid-season All-Star team (also South Atlantic League in 2010)...Baker was selected by the Pirates in the 11th round of the 2009 First-Year Player Draft.

Kyle McPherson (RHP) - McPherson enters today ranked first in the FSL in innings pitched (67.2) and WHIP (0.95), second in walks per 9.0 innings pitched (0.80) and fewest baserunners per 9.0 innings (9.44) and eighth in strikeouts (55)...He has won each of his last three decisions and is 4-1 with a 2.93 ERA (67.2ip/22er) in 11 starts this year...McPherson was selected by the Pirates in the 14th round of the 2007 First- Year Player Draft.

Brett Lorin (RHP) - Lorin is 2-2 with one save and a 3.25 ERA (44.1ip/16er) and 45 strikeouts in 11 games (six starts) this year...He has surrendered just two home runs this year...Has allowed just 11 earned runs in his last 37.1 innings (2.65 ERA) after allowing a season-high five runs in his second outing of the year on April 15...Was one of five players acquired from the Seattle Mariners on July 29, 2009.
