JACKSON, Tenn. (August 2, 2019) - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, were defeated 4-1 by the Jackson Generals Friday night at the Ballpark at Jackson.
Brandon Marsh hit a home run for the third time in his last four games. The solo shot in the fifth snapped a 16-inning scoreless stretch for the BayBears (41-68 overall, 14-27 second half) and cut Jackson's lead to 2-1.
However, the Generals (62-47, 23-16) pulled away with a pair of long balls. Cole Duzenak began the bottom of the fifth with a home run, and Daulton Varsho added his 13th of the season in the seventh.
Greg Mahle (0-2) recorded a career-high seven strikeouts in a losing effort. He allowed three runs on nine hits in 5 1/3 innings pitched.
Saraland native and South Alabama product Matt Peacock (8-3) earned the win for Jackson, giving up just one run on five hits in a seven-inning start. West Tunnell notched his first Double-A save with a scoreless ninth.
