Mavericks unveil new alternate logos

March 10, 2012
ADELANTO, Calif. -- With the 2012 California League season less than a month away, the High Desert Mavericks kicked off the baseball season with their first annual Fan Fest on Saturday at Mavericks Stadium.

Hundreds of fans flocked to the stadium to partake in the free event. Fan Fest featured a variety of fun activities for fans to participate in, including a home run derby, clubhouse and dugout tours and on-field promotions. Wooly Bully also was on hand to greet fans and delight children with his usual antics.

The Mavericks also used the event to unveil two new alternate logos for the 2012 season.

"After 21 seasons in the Victor Valley, we felt it was a great time to introduce new logos which reflected both the Mavericks team identity and our strong connections to the High Desert community," general manager Eric Jensen said. "Our new 'HD' logo allows the whole High Desert to feel represented when they're wearing Mavericks apparel and incorporates the unique physical attributes of this region.

"Likewise, the new cowboy logo represents the rugged resilience of those who reside in the desert while providing a historical tie to the Maverick name.

Additionally, the Mavericks released their promotional schedule for the 2012 season. The promo schedule is highlighted by 10 fireworks nights, an expansion from seven fireworks nights in 2011.

"We received a lot of feedback from our fans this offseason about which promotions they enjoyed the most, and fireworks were hands down the most popular event," Jensen said. "By adding these additional fireworks nights, we've provided additional opportunities for our fans to come out to the ballpark and enjoy an exciting baseball game and a spectacular postgame pyrotechnic show."

The biggest fireworks night of the year will occur on the 4th of July when the Mavs face Lake Elsinore on Alaska USA Federal Credit Union Independence Day Fireworks Night. This special holiday fireworks show will also feature a tote bag giveaway for the first 1,000 fans, courtesy of Alaska USA.

The Mavs also will showcase the holiday spirit with a special salute to moms everywhere on May 12 with the Mother's Day Fireworks Night presented by O'Doul's.

The Mavericks will host a unique promotional night on Aug. 10 when they introduce Pirate Night to the desert. Players will be outfitted in specially designed pirate-themed uniforms that will be auctioned off after the game.

The 2012 promotional schedule also includes all the traditional promos fans have come to love throughout the season. Every Friday home game again will be a Family Feast Night, featuring $1 hot dogs and sodas and new presenting sponsor Ebmeyer Charter. Munchie Mondays will bookend the weekend, featuring $1 sodas and munchie deals throughout the year.

Every Wednesday, fans will be able to come out to the stadium early and enjoy a pregame autograph session with Mavericks players on Meet-the-Mavs Wednesday, presented by The Daily Press. Every Sunday will again be a Senior Sunday, where fans 55 years old and up can buy one ticket and get one free, courtesy of Desert Valley Hospital.

The ever-popular Thirsty Thursdays will return this season, featuring $2 domestic draft beers and sodas. New this year, the Mavs are introducing 2fer Tuesdays where fans can get two tickets, two hot dogs and two sodas for only $22.
