Menchaca to Speak at 2011 Hot Stove Banquet

Clinton, IA - The Clinton LumberKings, in conjunction with the Friends of Riverview Stadium have announced the date and speaker for the 2011 Hot Stove Banquet. Newly-named manager Eddie Menchaca will be on hand as the keynote speaker for the event to be held at Eagle Point Lodge on Saturday, January 29.

Menchaca, who turns 30 on February 7, was named the 44th manager in Clinton baseball history on November 29 after spending last year at the helm of the short-A Pulaski Mariners. In his first-ever managerial post, the Phoenix native guided the Mariners to a 37-28 record, capturing the Appalachian League East Division title and a post-season berth. Menchaca will be on hand to speak about his baseball background, including a seven-year playing career within the Mariners system that included a season with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers of the Midwest League.

The event will also include a silent auction and a raffle featuring signed items from members of the 2010 West Division Champion LumberKings, Major League Hall-of-Famer Ryne Sandberg and more. All proceeds of the auction and raffle will go towards Friends of Riverview Stadium.

The festivities begin at 6 PM with social hour, dinner and program slated to start at 7 PM. Advance tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for children (age 12 and under), meal and program included.
