Mets Promote Bisons' Trainer

February 14, 2011 - The New York Mets today announced that they have promoted Bisons trainer BRIAN CHICKLO to the organizations' Minor League Training Coordinator. The Mets also announced that JOE GOLIA has been promoted from Double-A Binghamton to take over as the Bisons new head athletic trainer.

Chicklo has served as the Bisons trainer for each of the first two years of the club's affiliation with the New York Mets. The 2011 season will be Chicklo's 12th year in the Mets organization.

Golia, 33, has been with the Mets for the last seven seasons, six of which have come as the head athletic trainer for the Binghamton Mets. He also served as the head athletic trainer for the Surprise Rafters (2009) and the Peoria Saguaros (2008) of the Arizona Fall League.

Prior to joining the Mets, Golia was an athletic trainer for the Double-A Trenton Thunder (Red Sox) during the 2002 season.

Golia, a native of Charlottesville, VA, graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan College with a major in sports medicine before going on to get his M.E.D. in Exercise Science & Physical Education from the Citadel.
