MICLAT'S FOUR-HIT NIGHT PUSHES KEYS TO 8-6 WIN

Win is Landmark One for Keys - Team's 40th of the Year
June 18, 2010
For the second time in franchise history the Keys reached the 40-win plateau in the first half as Frederick's bats stayed hot in an 8-6 win over Myrtle Beach in its series opener at BB&T Coastal Field Friday night.

Keys SS Greg Miclat registered his second four-hit night of the year and LF Xavier Avery homered and scored three times in the win.

The critical rally came in a 4-all tie in the sixth inning. With two outs and the bases clear, DH Buck Britton lined a single to right field. C Phillip Britton would then hit a groundball that was gloved by Pelicans diving 3B Samuel Sime. His throw was too low to handle and the infield hit kept the inning alive. After an Avery walk loaded the bases, CF Kyle Hudson hit a groundball that ate up Pelicans SS Mycal Jones. The fielding error allowed a run to score and two subsequent singles would put the Keys atop 7-4. All three runs were unearned.

Frederick closer Jose Diaz worked through a shaky ninth, enticing a double play ball to end the game with the potential tying run at first base. With the save, Diaz now leads the circuit with ten.

The final first half series continues on Saturday, June 19th at 7:05 p.m. as Ryan Berry will get the start for Frederick. Coverage will begin at 6:45 p.m. on the Keys Baseball Network.

Frederick will begin the second half at home Thursday, June 24th at 7:00 p.m. against Winston-Salem with the third annual Peanut Free Night presented by The Frederick Allergy and Asthma Center. For tickets contact the Keys Box Office at 1-877-8-GO-KEYS or purchase online at frederickkeys.com.
