Mike Trout, former Kernels sweep Angels' Organizational Awards

Cedar Rapids, IA - Mike Trout and two former Kernels, Robert Fish and Alexi Amarista, were selected as the LA Angels named their Organizational Players of the Month for April. Abe Flores, the Angels Director of Player Development, announced the awards.

Mike Trout was named the Angels Player of the Month for April. He batted .372 (32-86) in April with two double, three triples, twelve runs scored and nine RBI. As the Kernels leadoff hitter, he posted a .427 on-base percentage and finished April with 12 stolen bases.

Robert Fish (CR 2008) was named the Angels Pitcher of the Month. He went 2-0 without allowing an earned run in seven April appearances at Rancho Cucamonga (CAL) and held opposing batters to a .146 BA, allowing six hits in 11.2 IP while walking four and striking out 21.

Alexi Amarista (CR 2009) is the Angels Defensive Player of the Month. The second baseman for Rancho Cucamonga, he committed no errors in 91 total chances. In 20 games, he turned 14 double plays while collecting 30 putouts and 61 assists.

The Kernels continue a seven game road trip tonight in Peoria and return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Friday, May 28th.
