Mike Walker named FSL Player of the Week

The FSL All-Star hit .350 with three homers in final week of 2012
September 4, 2012

VIERA, Fla. - The Florida State League announced on Tuesday that Brevard County Manatees third baseman Mike Walker was named the league's player of the week for the period of August 27-September 2.

In six games last week, Walker hit .350 (7-for-20) with five extra-base hits - three of them being home runs - seven RBI and five runs scored. Walker had a .480 on-base percentage and a slugging percentage of .900 in those six games.

Walker, 24, was the only Manatee named to the Florida State League Post-Season All-Star Team. He led Brevard County in eight different offensive categories this season.

Walker's 75 RBI in 2012 ties him for second all-time with Brendan Katin (2006) and Brock Kjeldgaard (2010) in single-season RBI since the Manatees became a Brewers affiliate in 2005. Sean Halton had the most RBI in a season for a Manatee in the Milwaukee era with 77 in 2010.

He is in his third professional season and was drafted by Milwaukee out of the University of Pacific in the 14th round of the 2010 MLB First-Year Player Draft.
