Minor, Dullnig College Honorees

CORPUS CHRISTI - Texas A&M Corpus Christi's Daniel Minor and Cameron Dullnig of Texas A&M-Kingsville will be honored at the South Texas Winter Baseball Banquet January 23.

Minor and Dullnig are former college pitchers who earned 2012 team MVP honors at their respective institutions.

Minor hails from Dripping Springs and pitched at McLennan Community College before transferring to Corpus Christi. The 5-foot-11, 188-pound right-hander made the most of his single season with the Islanders, matching a school record with 10 wins and earning first-team All-Southland Conference status. Minor was league pitcher of the week four times and an All-South Central Region choice by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA). He pitched four complete games, struck out 110 and walked 23 in 110 innings while posting a 2.20 earned run average.

The Houston Astros made Minor their ninth-round selection in June's amateur draft. He was 3-2 (2.75) in 11 starts at Rookie League Greeneville, Tennessee, limiting the opposition to a .229 batting average.

Dullnig, 5-foot-11 and 175, established a school mark for saves (10) and did not allow an earned run in 20 innings as the Javelinas advanced to the NCAA Division II tournament. The Western Carolina transfer, who played high school baseball at San Antonio Clark, recorded 23 strikeouts and 10 walks. Dullnig also batted .369 with 38 runs, 26 RBIs, 12 steals and a .467 on-base percentage. He played second base, third base and right field.

Dullnig was player of the year in the Lone Star Conference (league coaches) and South Central Region (National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association). He garnered All-American mention from three different organizations and pitched for the independent Fort Worth Cats last summer.

Dullnig was struck by 54 pitches in his college career.
