Missions Drop Their Third Straight to Midland

July 23, 2012

The Midland RockHounds shutout the San Antonio Missions 2-0 in the third game of their four game series Sunday night at Wolff Stadium.

Midland's starter Shawn Haviland and two relievers limited San Antonio to just four hits as the RockHounds collected nine hits in their winning effort.

In the second inning, Midland took a 1-0 lead with an unearned run on a Jeudy Valdez throwing error. They would add an insurance run in the seventh as Anthony Allioti's hit into shallow left field that plated Dusty Coleman. The Missions are now hitting just .177 in the series.

The final game of the series is tomorrow, with first pitch scheduled for 11:05am. Right-hander Sonny Gray (4-7, 4.38 ERA) will start for Midland and righty Matt Jackson (0-0, 1.80 ERA) takes the hill for his first home appearance for the Missions.

Monday is Hero Appreciation and Senior Slugger Day at the ballpark. All seniors 65 and over or those eligible for MediCare, will receive a complimentary reserved seat ticket and drink. San Antonio Police, Firefighters, and Sheriff's Dept employees receive complimentary tickets with ID or badge. You can catch all the Missions action on KKYX 680 AM, the home of Missions baseball with Roy Acuff and Mike Saeger.
