Missions get revised revised lease

November 16, 2006
This morning the San Antonio City Council approved, with a vote of 9-0, a revised lease agreement that allows the San Antonio Missions to take over operations at Wolff Stadium.

The city also allocated $300,000 to renovate the lighting at Wolff Stadium. As part of the agreement the Missions announced that they would invest approximately $1.2 million to renovations and improvements at Wolff Stadium.

"It's extremely exciting for us and especially exciting for the fans of the San Antonio Missions," stated Missions President Burl Yarbrough. "We commend the mayor, the city council and the city staff for working with us throughout this process, and vow that Wolff Stadium will once again be "The Jewel of the Texas League."

The most notable improvement that fans will recognize at Wolff Stadium next season will be a State of the Art LED video scoreboard. The LED video screen, estimated at 16 feet tall by 22 feet wide, will supply outstanding image clarity, true color reproduction and exceptional brightness, plus it will have full Instant Replay capabilities.

The other major improvement to the stadium will be the "Fiesta Deck," which is an ALL-INCLUSIVE entertainment area for groups to enjoy Missions Baseball. The multi-leveled deck will accommodate up to 200 people and provide an exclusive area for corporate partners and local community organizations. "The Fiesta Deck will allow us to offer our fans a top of the line hospitality area that we have never had at Wolff Stadium," said Missions General Manager Dave Gasaway.

Renovations to Wolff Stadium will include, improved sound system, new paint, repaired irrigation systems and renovated concession stands.

The initial terms of the new lease agreement are for 10 years with three separate options of five years.
