Mitch Maier Picked as the PCL Player of the Week

Maier mashed three homers and led the PCL in slugging percentage for the past week

OMAHA, Neb. - Mitch Maier has been rewarded by the Pacific Coast League for his impressive play from August 6 - 12 with the PCL's Player of the Week award. The outfielder batted .389 (7-for-18) with three home runs, a double, a triple and led the league with a 1.056 slugging percentage. He also tied with teammate David Lough for the league lead in RBI with ten during the seven day span. The award marks the second consecutive week an Omaha Storm Chaser has been named the PCL Player of the Week and Maier is the fifth Omaha player this season to earn the title of Pitcher/Player of the Week.

The 30-year-old has spent all ten seasons of his professional career in the Kansas City Royals organization and has accumulated a .253 average with eight home runs and 86 RBI in 327 games over parts of six seasons in the Major Leagues. Maier joined the Storm Chasers on July 15 and has batted .268 with three homers and 11 runs batted in 16 games.
