Mitchell & Ness R-Phils Team Store Opens Saturday

April 5, 2011

(Reading, PA) – The Reading Phillies, the Double-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies since 1967 – the longest affiliation in all of baseball, are pleased to announce the grand opening of the brand-new climate-controlled Mitchell & Ness R-Phils Team Store on Saturday, April 9 at 10:00 a.m. to the general public.

“This is going to be a great day in Reading Phillies history,” said R-Phils GM Scott Hunsicker. “Kids club members will have the opportunity to cut the ribbon and welcome everyone into the store on Saturday. We are excited to be able to offer our fans a walk-in store for the first-time ever, here at America’s Classic Ballpark. The selection of items has been greatly expanded with the new Mitchell & Ness R-Phils Team Store, plus, we think the special “Kid’s Size Door” is going to be very popular with our young fans.”

Beginning at 10:00 a.m. with a special ceremonial ribbon-cutting ceremony, all fans will have the chance to enter the new Mitchell & Ness R-Phils Team Store for the first-time and purchase some great gear. Reading Phillies mascots will be in the store to greet everyone on Saturday. Also, any fan that makes a purchase on Saturday will get a free tour of FirstEnergy Stadium. Fans will get an early look at the results of the awesome stadium renovations before Opening Night, which is Thursday, April 14.

Redner’s R-Phils Kids Club members will want to make their way out to the ballpark as well on Saturday. All Redner’s R-Phils Kids Club members will receive 10% off their entire order by showing their Kids Club membership card. At the moment, the R-Phils are giving all Redner’s R-Phils Kids Club members a chance to win a special R-Phils Fan Pack, as well as the opportunity to cut the ceremonial ribbon at 10:00 a.m. All Redner’s R-Phils Kids Club members interested in participating in this fun contest will need to email R-Phils Director of Fan Development Chris McConney a reason why they should be the one to cut the ceremonial ribbon. Kids club members can email Chris at [email protected]. All entries must be received by 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 7. The winner will be announced on Friday, April 8.

The Mitchell and Ness R-Phils Team Store will be adult and kid-friendly, and will have some great features for both to enjoy. There will be merchandise for all ages, and kids will have their very own entrance into the store, thanks to the addition of a separate kid-sized glass door. The Mitchell & Ness R-Phils Team Store will also be accessible from outside the VIST Financial Plaza gates, inside the gates, and from the main concourse. Fans can shop during the season, as well as in the offseason, as the Mitchell & Ness R-Phils Team Store will be open all-year-round. The new store features Mitchell & Ness' authentic sports apparel, including throwback jerseys, pennants, as well as current R-Phils merchandise standards, including t-shirts, caps, collectibles, and more.

Also, as part of Saturday’s festivities, the R-Phils will unveil a permanent memorial to the late State Senator Mike O’Pake. State Senator O’Pake was instrumental in all of the improvements to FirstEnergy Stadium, including the current renovation to America’s Classic Ballpark. Also, the R-Phils will re-dedicate the Dog Tags in front of FirstEnergy Stadium on Saturday. The Dog Tags were originally placed in front of the stadium in 1999 and have now been re-located to a new spot at the ballpark. The special ceremony is being held to honor the county’s veterans. Both ceremonies will begin at 12:00 p.m.

Single-game tickets for all 71 home games this season are available now and fans can purchase tickets by visiting readingphillies.com, by calling 610-370-BALL, or by stopping by the brand-new ticket office located at FirstEnergy Stadium. Fans can also add the all-you-can eat Deck Buffett wristband to any order for only $12. R-Phils Tickets -- Same Great Price. America's Classic Ballpark...Just Got Even Better.
