MLB.com Franchise MVP App debuts

First mobile game featuring 120 teams from Class A to MLB
December 3, 2013

NEW YORK -- MLB Advanced Media (MLBAM), the interactive media and Internet company of Major League Baseball and award-winning mobile developer, on Tuesday unveiled a new mobile game: MLB.com Franchise MVP.

The free-to-play game, available for iPhone and iPad, puts the building blocks for franchise success -- a World Series championship -- squarely in the hands of its players. Each user's journey begins as a Minor League prospect playing for the Class A Advanced affiliate of his or her favorite team, working his or her way up the ladder to the Major Leagues.

Player performance in the mini-game simulations and critical decision-making, including training, energy level, facilities and equipment, will be key in the pursuit of big league glory. Users will be able to track their progress through team and league standings, player performances and rewards earned.

MLB.com Franchise MVP also will debut for supported Android smartphones and tablets later this year.

"We built this game to be a fun graft of simulation baseball and player development strategies," said Jamie Leece, MLBAM vice president of gaming.

"The ability for fans to play multiple games in minutes and a full season in an afternoon will appeal to mobile gamers."

MLB.com Franchise MVP is the latest in a series of mobile gaming and fantasy baseball products developed and distributed by MLBAM.

Other popular game titles currently in the App Store include MLB Ballpark Empire and MLB.com Home Run Derby. New games and recurring fantasy games, such as Beat The Streak and its "never-won" $5.6 million grand prize, will launch in advance of Opening Day 2014.
