Mud Hens use big first inning in 3-2 win!

The Hens scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning to take game one of their series with Indianapolis by the score of 3-1 last night. Toledo starter Brooks Brown was dominant in five innings work, giving up no runs while fanning six.

Brown bested Rick VandenHurk, who entered the game with a 9-1 record in 2012. The 6'5 right-hander gave up three runs on six hits in seven innings.

The Hens got the party started with two runs on a an RBI single from right fielder Ben Guez, who eventually worked his way to third following an errant throw from the Indy center fielder. Guez was later plated on a sacrifice fly from Danny Dorn.

The Indians scored runs in the top of the eighth and ninth innings, but bullpen work from Collin Balester, Zach Miner and Luis Marte sealed the two run victory.

Toledo and Indianapolis return to Fifth Third Field on Saturday night for a double header. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
