Jackson, 38, returns for his fifth season in the Cincinnati Reds organization, third season with the Mudcats.  He began his professional coaching career as the hitting coach at Class-A Sarasota in 2007 and 2008 before beginning his Mudcats assignment in the same capacity in 2009.  Originally drafted by the Marlins in 1994, Jackson enjoyed an 11-year professional career that included parts of 4 seasons at the Major League level with Florida (1998), Seattle (1999) and Detroit (2001-02). Jackson played collegiately at Duke University and won NCAA National Player of the Year in 1994.

Prior to joining the organization, he served as pitching coach for Triple-A Albuquerque (Marlins) in 2006. Brown also worked in the same capacity with Triple-A Fresno (Giants) in 2005. After 3 seasons as minor league pitching coordinator for San Diego, Brown was appointed pitching coach at Triple-A Portland in 2003. He has also worked as pitching coach for Triple-A Oklahoma (1995-98) and Triple-A Las Vegas (1999). During his playing days, Brown pitched in both the Kansas City Royals and Seattle Mariners chains, appearing in 6 Major League games with Seattle in 1978.
