Mustangs name radio broadcaster

Ryan Schuiling to provide play-by-play action in 2011
March 28, 2011
BILLINGS, MT - The Billings Mustangs have announced that Ryan Schuiling will handle the radio play-by-play duties for the upcoming 2011 Pioneer League season. Schuiling replaces Joe Block, who served as the Mustangs Director of Broadcasting in 2010.

"We believe Ryan is a natural fit for the Mustangs organization and we look forward to working with him on a daily basis during the 2011 season," said Mustangs General Manager Gary Roller. "Ryan is an extremely talented broadcaster and brings an impressive resume with him to Billings. He is truly a professional and I can assure our fans that his broadcasts will be insightful, informative and entertaining."

Prior to joining the Mustangs, the Ann Arbor, Michigan native worked for nearly 14 years professionally at various stops in both sports broadcasting and media relations, most recently serving as the radio play-by-play voice for the Toledo Walleye of the East Coast Hockey League during the 2010-11 season. Ryan previously spent three years (2007-2010) as the play-by-play broadcaster for Central Michigan University baseball, softball, football and men's basketball.

"I am humbled and honored to be joining the proud tradition of Billings Mustangs baseball," Schuiling said. "The team's legion of elite broadcasters like Joe Block, Scott Lauer, Ed Cohen and others have established a standard of excellence I will strive to uphold. I look forward to being a part of a first-class organization and the Billings community - from working with Gary and everyone in the Mustangs front office, to meeting the fans and interacting with them on a nightly basis."

Schuiling began his broadcasting career in 1997 as an afternoon drive radio talk show host at WBBL-1340 AM in Grand Rapids, Michigan. During a four-year stint there, he also called play-by-play for the Grand Rapids Hoops of the Continental Basketball Association, Grand Rapids Area High School Hockey Game of the Week, as well as the Grand Rapids Bearcats (Junior A Hockey) and hosted a weekly half-hour call-in hockey program.

Ryan is a 1992 graduate of Grass Lake High School (Grass Lake, Michigan) and earned a Bachelor of Applied Arts degree in Broadcast and Cinematic Arts from Central Michigan University in 1996.

The Mustangs open the 2011 campaign on Monday, June 20 when the Great Falls Voyagers visit Dehler Park. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm MST. Each and every Mustangs game is broadcast live in its entirety and can be heard on 105.1 FM The "X" (KYSX).
