New York Yankees IF Casey McGehee to Suit Up for RiverDogs

Joins Team For the Stretch Run to the Postseason

CHARLESTON, SC - The New York Yankees have announced that IF Casey McGehee has been optioned to the Class-A Charleston RiverDogs. He is expected to be with the team for the remainder of the season. The RiverDogs are home today and Thursday against the West Virginia Power, South Atlantic Affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates.

McGehee joins Yankees OF Brett Gardner and Braves P Tim Hudson as Major Leaguers who have played in Charleston this season.

A native of Santa Cruz, CA, McGehee played collegiately at Fresno State University. He was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 10th round of the 2003 MLB Amateur Draft.

McGehee has appeared in 105 games this season combined between the Pittsburgh Pirates and New York Yankeees. A lifetime .258 hitter, the right-handed hitter has also played for the Chicago Cubs (2008) and Milwaukee Brewers (2009-11). He finished fifth in voting for the National League Rookie of the Year Award in 2009, when he hit .301 with 16 homers and 66 RBIs for Milwaukee. McGehee then went on to set career highs in 2010 with 38 doubles, 23 homers, and 104 RBIs for the Brewers.
