Nieto, Skole Lead Suns Over Braves 9-2

Hagerstown, MD - The Hagerstown Suns' (9-8) used four hits from catcher Adrian Nieto and two more RBIs from Matt Skole to beat the Rome Braves (4-14), 9-2, in Rome, GA, on Tuesday night.

Nieto went 4-for-5 in the game with a double, RBI and a run scored, joining J.P. Ramirez, Cutter Dykstra and Skole as Suns hitters to have a four-hit game this season. Skole reclaimed a share of the South Atlantic League lead in RBIs with a pair, including one on his fourth home run of the season. Left fielder Caleb Ramsey hit his league leading fourth triple of the season while driving in a pair of runs and scoring twice in the game.

Suns starting pitcher Alex Meyer did not factor in the decision, going four innings allowing two runs on two hits, four walks and six strike outs. Brian Dupra (1-3) earned his first win of the year in his first relief appearance, going three scoreless innings out of the bullpen.

Braves starting pitcher A.J. Holland (1-3) suffered the loss in four innings of work, giving up five runs (two earned) on six hits, four walks and two strike outs. Second baseman Fernando De Los Santos had the only multi-hit game for the Braves, going 3-for-4 with a double, RBI and a run scored.

The Suns will send right-hander Taylor Hill (2-0) to the mound for his first start of the season in game two of the series tomorrow night. He'll take on Braves' lefty Carlos Perez (0-2) at 7:05 p.m.
