DeWayne Wise, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre

Picking up the veteran Wise, who was a fifth-round pick by the Reds back in 1997, has proven to be a savvy move for the Yankees. The 34-year-old delivered an extra-base hit and scored in each of his first five games with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre before going 0-for-4 against Syracuse on Sunday. Wise has never hit more than 11 homers in a Minor League campaign -- and that was in the Midwest League in 1999 -- but already has three round-trippers as the Yanks kick off their season-long road trip.

Pacific Coast League
Justin Christian, Fresno

Christian is a career .309 hitter in seven Triple-A seasons, but may never have had a stretch quite like his first nine games this year. The 32-year-old outfielder has had seven multi-hit games already and smacked at least one double in each of his last six outings. Christian, who was originally signed by the Yankees as an undrafted free agent in 2004, leads the Minor Leagues in hits, batting, and on-base percentage. The only facet of his game that's been less than superlative is his baserunning, where he's been caught in two of three stolen-base attempts.

Eastern League
Juan Carlos Linares, Portland
(.415/.489/.707, 11 G, 17-for-41, 3 2B, 0 3B, 3 HR, 8 RBI, 7 R, 5 BB, 6 K)
Linares was limited to just 17 games for Triple-A Pawtucket last year, suffering season-ending ligament damage to his ankle on May 2. The 26-year-old outfielder has shown no signs of rust in 2012, however, reaching base in each of his first 11 games and notching a base hit in 10 of them. After eight seasons with La Habana in Cuba's Serie Nacional, Linares is poised to make noise in his first full season in the Minors. He did leave Sunday's game with a hamstring strain, but the injury appears nowhere near as serious as last year's.

Southern League
Ian Gac, Mississippi

After nine years in the Minors, Gac has finally gotten a chance to show what he can do at the Double-A level. The 26-year-old slugger, who piled up 75 home runs over the last three seasons and earned Carolina League MVP honors in 2011, already has three games with at least three hits. Gac went 4-for-7 with a homer, two doubles and three RBIs in his first Southern League road game Sunday as the M-Braves edged host Jackson, 4-3, on the first baseman's solo shot in the 16th inning.

Texas League
Brandon Barnes, Corpus Christi

Jake Goebbert, Corpus Christi

The Hooks lead the Texas League with .277 team average, thanks in large part to outfielders Barnes and Goebbert, who are batting .432 and .429, respectively. The 25-year-old Barnes has collected multiple hits in six of his nine games and went 7-for-13 with five doubles and five RBIs as the Hooks took two of three at Northwest Arkansas. Goebbert was 7-for-14 and has at least one RBI in each of the last five games he's started. The two are tied with Frisco's Engel Beltre for the league lead in runs scored with 10 apiece.

California League
Brad Miller, High Desert

Though he's cooled off slightly after a remarkable Cal League debut series -- 9-for-18 with four homers, two triples, two doubles, 11 RBIs and nine runs scored in a four-game sweep of visiting Lancaster -- Mavericks shortstop Brad Miller has reached base in each of his 10 games and leads the circuit in runs, walks, RBIs and slugging. The 21-year-old was the Mariners' second-round pick out of Clemson in 2011 and is picking up right where he left off last year, when he hit .415 in 14 games for Class A Clinton.

Carolina League
Evan Gattis, Lynchburg

At 25, Gattis is the oldest player on the Hillcats roster, but at this rate he won't be there long. The backstop wrapped up his week by going 9-for-16 with three homers and 12 RBIs in his last four games, helping Lynchburg open up a two-game lead on the rest of the Carolina League. Gattis went 5-for-6 with a homer, double and six RBIs on Sunday as the 'Cats crushed host Potomac, 13-2, and lead the league in hits, homers, RBIs, batting, slugging and on-base percentage.

Florida State League
Angel Morales, Fort Myers
(.415/.457/.561, 10 G, 17-for-41, 1 2B, 1 3B, 1 HR, 7 RBI, 8 R, 4 BB, 1 K, 3 SB, 1 CS)
Morales' third season with the Miracle is off to a flying start with hits in nine of 10 games and multiple hits in five of them. The 22-year-old outfielder out of Puerto Rico, a third-round Draft pick in 2007, had three hits on Opening Day and fell a triple shy of the cycle in a four-hit, three-RBI performance against Bradenton on Saturday. Morales is leading the Florida State League with 17 hits in his first 10 games.

Midwest League
Dusty Robinson, Burlington
(.308/.400/.744, 10 G, 12-for-39, 1 2B, 2 3B, 4 HR, 10 RBI, 10 R, 5 BB, 9 K, 1 SB)
A 10th-round pick out of Fresno State last June, Robinson led Class A Short-Season Vermont with seven home runs in 2011 despite appearing in just 36 games. The 22-year-old outfielder got off to a quick start in 2012 by crushing a grand slam in his second full-season at-bat and is tied for the Midwest League lead with four longballs and 10 runs scored after 10 games. Robinson capped his first week in the league with three multi-hit games in a four-game set against visiting Kane County over the weekend.

South Atlantic League
Tyler Austin, Charleston
(.438/.471/1.031, 8 G, 14-for-32, 4 2B, 3 3B, 3 HR, 9 RBI, 2 BB, 6 K)
With Dante Bichette Jr. commanding the bulk of the RiverDogs' playing time at third base, Austin has had to adjust to the outfield in his first Sally League season. The 20-year-old has needed no adjustments at the plate, however -- after going 0-for-4 in his Charleston debut, Austin has hits in seven straight games and at least two hits in each of his last five. After hitting six homers in 47 games last year, Austin has three in his last four outings, including a pair in Charleston's 9-3 win at Rome on Thursday. With four hits on Saturday, the Georgia native's .438 batting average leads the league and his 1.031 slugging percentage leads the Minors.
