International League
Andy Marte, Buffalo

Bisons third baseman Andy Marte secured his second IL weekly award of the season and helped his club get back into the playoff race with a strong showing last week. Buffalo sits just a half-game behind Richmond in the Wild Card chase. After opening the week with an 0-for-4 performance against Ottawa, Marte hit safely in the next six games. The native of Valla Tapia, Dominican Republic, recorded a home run in all three games against division-leading Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Marte now has 16 long balls on the season, tying him with Ryan Mulhern for the team lead.

Pacific Coast League
Joe Borchard, Albuquerque
.520 (13-25), 9 R, 1 2B, 0 3B, 4 HR, 14 RBI, 6 BB, 3 SO, 1 SB, 1.040 SLG

In the 14 games he has played for the Isotopes this season, outfielder Joe Borchard has a hit in 12 of them -- 12 straight to be exact. The native of Panorama City, Calif., extended his hitting streak with a strong showing in the Isotopes' series against both Omaha and Memphis last week. Borchard absolutely torched the Redbirds, recording 11 hits -- including four home runs -- and scoring 12 runs. He scored nine times in the five-game series. Borchard is hitting .485 with 11 extra-base hits and 24 RBIs for the Isotopes, while boasting a 1.021 slugging percentage and a .526 on-base percentage.

Eastern League
Dustin Majewski, New Hampshire
.429 (12-28), 5 R, 1 2B, 1 3B, 3 HR, 6 RBI, 3 BB, 7 SO, 0 SB, .857 SLG

Fisher Cats outfielder Dustin Majewski found some momentum at the tail end of his club's series against Binghamton and transferred it to his efforts against New Britain and Portland last week. Majewski belted home runs in three straight games against the Sea Dogs. The Texas native has collected at least two hits in each of his past four games and one RBI in each of his last five. Majewski is hitting .246 with 43 extra-base hits, including 29 doubles and 11 home runs, with 54 RBIs for the Fisher Cats this season. New Hampshire sits 11 1/2 games behind powerhouse Trenton in the East Division, but is still in the running for the division's Wild Card berth.

Southern League
Gabriel Martinez, Montgomery

Eight straight victories for Montgomery ... eight straight games with a hit for Biscuits first baseman Gabriel Martinez. Coincidence? Probably not. The 24-year-old had seven RBIs for the Biscuits last week, bringing his season total to 76, which ties him with former teammate Evan Longoria, who's since been promoted to Triple-A Durham, for third in the Southern League. The native of Ponce, Puerto Rico, had a strong outing against Birmingham Tuesday, in which he went 4-for-5 with a pair of home runs and four RBIs, helping Montgomery rally from a 3-0 deficit to defeat the Barons, 7-3.

Texas League
Colby Rasmus, Springfield
.419 (13-31), 9 R, 2 2B, 0 3B, 4 HR, 5 RBI, 1 BB, 6 SO, 2 SB, .871 SLG

It's safe to say that Cardinals outfielder Colby Rasmus' slump is over. Rasmus brought home his second consecutive Texas League weekly honor as he helped Springfield, who won the first-half title, secure a 1 1/2 game lead over Arkansas in the North Division in the second half. The native of Columbus, Ga., had three multiple-hit games this week, including a 3-for-4 performance against Arkansas Saturday that included a pair of doubles, a home run, an RBI and three runs scored. He would finish the week with four round-trippers. Rasmus is hitting .278 with 65 extra-base hits and 67 RBIs for the Cardinals this season.

California League
Zachary Daeges, Lancaster
.625 (15-24), 9 R, 5 2B, 2 3B, 1 HR, 10 RBI, 5 BB, 5 SO, 1 SB, 1.125 SLG

Somewhere in the midst of helping Lancaster break the California League's season home run record and setting a new club record for runs scored, JetHawks designated hitter Zachary Daeges had another spectacular week. The 23-year-old clocked a grand slam against Stockton Sunday, and while it wasn't the team's record-breaking home run, Daeges finished the contest with a career-high six RBIs. He went 4-for-4 against the Ports the night before. The Omaha native leads the league in hits (164), doubles (52), extra-base hits (76) and runs scored (120), while ranking second in RBIs (102) and batting average (.337).

Carolina League
Christopher Johnson, Salem
.350 (7-20), 5 R, 2 2B, 0 3B, 3 HR, 10 RBI, 2 BB, 5 SO, 1 SB, .900 SLG

Avalanche third baseman Christopher Johnson snapped a seven-game hitless streak and then proceeded to stay red hot for his club last week. The native of Naples, Fla., had a 3-for-5 outing, which included a double and a pair of home runs, against the Keys Thursday. Johnson finished the game with six RBIs, by far the most he has collected in a game this season. Later in the week, the 22-year-old would add another long ball and three RBIs against the Warthogs. Johnson is hitting .263 with 28 extra-base hits and 81 RBIs in the Minors this season.

Florida State League
Eric Nielsen, Dunedin
.484 (15-31), 10 R, 4 2B, 0 3B, 1 HR, 8 RBI, 2 BB, 5 SO, 0 SB, .710 SLG

Blue Jays outfielder Eric Nielsen had a 14-game hitting streak snapped Sunday against Lakeland, but it's doubtful that the 25-year-old will dwell on that fact after the week he had. Nielsen hit .484 across the Blue Jays' series against Fort Myers, Clearwater and Lakeland, using five extra-base hits to help drive in eight runs. He had three consecutive three-hit games on the week, including a 3-for-3 performance against the Miracle Tuesday. Nielsen leads the FSL in hits (139) and doubles (41), while his batting average (.323) ranks second.

Midwest League
Carson Kainer, Dayton
.500 (13-26), 6 R, 1 2B, 0 3B, 1 HR, 11 RBI, 1 BB, 6 SO, 0 SB, .654 SLG

Dragons outfielder Carson Kainer got his bat in gear during Dayton's doubleheader against Fort Wayne and it just kept cranking. In fact, Kainer is now the proud owner of a seven-game hitting streak. The 22-year-old hit .500 through seven contests on the week, including a 4-for-5 performance against West Michigan Sunday. The native of Corpus Christi, Texas, had three RBIs in that game, three days after collecting four with a 2-for-4 effort against the Wizards. Kainer is hitting .297 with 11 extra-base hits and 30 RBIs for the Dragons this season.

South Atlantic League
Scott Cousins, Greensboro
.348 (8-23), 8 R, 1 2B, 0 3B, 4 HR, 14 RBI, 5 BB, 5 SO, 1 SB, .913 SLG

Outfielder Scott Cousins redirected four pitches over the fence this week as his efforts helped propel the Grasshoppers into third place in the SAL's Northern Division, where they currently sit 3 1/2 games behind Hickory. The 22-year-old simply exploded against the Crawdads Wednesday, going 3-for-4 with three home runs and a whopping nine RBIs, dwarfing his previous '07 season high of four, which he'd accomplished twice. Cousins is hitting .288 with 40 extra-base hits, including 22 doubles and 18 home runs, and has 73 RBIs this season for the Grasshoppers.

New York-Penn League
Anthony Martinez, Aberdeen
.444 (12-27), 4 R, 3 2B, 0 3B, 1 HR, 10 RBI, 1 BB, 6 SO, 0 SB, .667 SLG

Eleven games and counting now for IronBirds first baseman Anthony Martinez's hitting streak, as the 23-year-old remained red hot for Aberdeen. Martinez started the week with a perfect 2-for-2 effort in a doubleheader opener against Hudson Valley and never slowed down. The native of Richmond, Va., went 3-for-5 in consecutive games against Lowell and Tri-City, totaling a double, a homer and six RBIs in the two contests. He finished the week with 10 RBIs. Martinez is hitting .275 with 12 extra-base hits and 39 RBIs in 54 games for the IronBirds.

Northwest League
Kellen Kulbacki, Eugene
.480 (12-25), 5 R, 0 2B, 0 3B, 3 HR, 10 RBI, 4 BB, 4 SO, 0 SB, .840 SLG

Emeralds outfielder Kellen Kulbacki is playing as if the Emeralds were vying for the postseason rather than jockeying with Everett to avoid the West Division cellar. The 2007 supplemental first-round draft pick extended his current hitting streak to eight games in Eugene's series against Tri-City and Vancouver last week, recording two or more hits in four of the seven contests. Kulbacki went 3-for-3 against the Dust Devils Wednesday before collecting a total of seven RBIs in a pair games against the Canadians at the end of the week. Kulbacki has homered in his last three games and is hitting .292 this season.

Appalachian League
Cody Johnson, Danville
.393 (11-28), 8 R, 3 2B, 0 3B, 3 HR, 7 RBI, 4 BB, 9 SO, 2 SB, .821 SLG

Braves outfielder Cody Johnson blasted three home runs this week, bringing his season total to 17, tops in the league for the East Division-champion Danville Braves. The native of Panama City, Fla., extended his hitting streak to nine games before it was snapped with an 0-for-3 performance against Elizabethton Friday. Johnson's best showing came Thursday in a 2-for-4 night against the Twins that included a pair of home runs and two RBIs. The 19-year-old is hitting .306 with 38 extra-base hits, including 17 doubles, and has 55 RBIs this season.

Pioneer League
Brandon Waring, Billings
.478 (11-23), 6 R, 1 2B, 0 3B, 4 HR, 8 RBI, 1 BB, 4 SO, 0 SB, 1.043 SLG

Mustangs third baseman Brandon Waring extended his hitting streak to nine games last week while smacking four home runs to help Billings remain four games ahead of Missoula in the North Division standings. The native of Spartanburg, S.C., went 3-for-4 against the Osprey on Sunday, a performance that included two home runs and four RBIs. He had two or more hits in four of Billings' six contests. The 21-year-old Waring ranks first in the Pioneer League with 52 runs scored, second in home runs (14), fourth in extra-base hits (33) and fifth in RBIs (47).
