Offseason Chat With Second Baseman Eric Farris

January 27, 2011
Where do you call home in the offseason?
I live in Sacramento, California. I went to high school in Arizona, but it's where I grew up and have a lot friends and family there.

How do you spend your offseason?
I like to spend my offseason golfing, playing videogames, and spending time with my two nieces! I also like to travel, cook, and watch movies.

What was the first thing you did when you got home following the season?
First thing was I did was catch up with my friends and family.

Were you able to take a non-baseball vacation?
I played in the Arizona Fall league last year, so I consider my ending after that. I took a couple of vacations after the season, and was able to travel to South Lake Tahoe and San Diego.

Did you return to Nashville at any point this offseason? What is your favorite aspect of Nashville?
I didn't get to come back to at all, but my favorite aspect of the city is the BBQ.

Considering your workload in 2010, how much baseball work did you do this offseason?
Most of my work was in a gym, but I always get my fair share of work on the field as well.

You were placed on the Brewers 40-man roster in the offseason. Where do you project yourself starting and finishing next season?
Time will tell. I don't really know where I'll be next season. Obviously, my dream is to be a big leaguer in the near future.

Did you keep in contact with any of your teammates?
I keep in contact as much as I can, although no one really lives in my area.

Did the 49ers meet your expectations this season?
It was a rough year! They missed the playoffs again and lost a lot of close games. I think it's going be better next season since we got a new coach. The quarterback position should improve considering the career that head coach Jim Harbaugh had as QB in the NFL. The defense will be solid as usual. I think the Niners have a bright future ahead! Bold prediction: 49ers...Super Bowl...2012.

Who do you want the 49ers to draft at #7?
Not sure. Most fans may want a quarterback, but I think we should give Alex Smith another shot.

Did you play fantasy football?
Yeah, I played with some of the guys from the Sounds and came in second place behind Chase Wright!

Any hints on your walk-up song for next season? Are you sticking with Dr. Dre?
Still undecided, but it will definitely be something new.

What's the first thing Don Money is going to say when he sees you?
"Shave your face!"
