Parkview Field goes green
The dye is used for more than just a cosmetic effect. It stimulates warmer soil temperatures and early spring growth.
"Having done this procedure before, it's fun to watch turf seemingly come to life before your eyes," TinCaps head groundskeeper Keith Winter said. "By the time the whole field is painted, it really looks like it is ready for a baseball game."
Winter and assistant groundskeeper Rob Dworkin will applied the dye Wednesday at around 2 p.m. In the next three weeks, they will continue to prepare the playing surface for Opening Day, set for April 7.
Tickets, group outings and picnics for the TinCaps' 2011 season are on sale now. Visit the tickets page or call (260) 482-6400 for more information.
