Paxton Headed to MWL All-Star Game

Eastlake, OH - Clinton LumberKings' left-hander James Paxton is headed to the 2011 Midwest League All-Star Game at Modern Woodmen Park in Davenport, IA. Paxton was named as Clinton's lone representative on the West Division Roster as both East and West All-Stars were announced yesterday evening by the Midwest League.

The 23-year-old Paxton, Seattle's fourth-round pick in 2010 out of the independent American Association, is 1-2 with a 2.43 ERA, 21 walks, 45 strikeouts over 33.1 innings spanning six starts for the LumberKings. He has held Midwest League opponents to a .228 average this season, his first in affiliated Minor League Baseball after pitching for Grand Prairie of the independent American Association last year.

A native of Ladner, British Columbia, Canada, Paxton played collegiately at the University of Kentucky from 2007 to 2009, compiling a record of 11-5, a 4.91 ERA and 168 strikeouts in 55 games, 24 starts.

The 2011 Midwest League All-Star Game is set for Tuesday, June 21st at 7:00 PM at Modern Woodmen Park, home of the Quad Cities River Bandits.
