Peguero keys Jaxx's 11-run frame

West Tenn rolls to eighth straight win with rout of Mississippi
June 6, 2010
Coming to the ballpark must be a joy right now for members of the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx. The Double-A Mariners affiliate has won eight straight games, the latest on the strength of an 11-run inning Sunday.

Carlos Peguero drove in four runs in the double-digit frame, the final three via the longball and the first with an RBI single, as West Tenn bested visiting Mississippi, 12-2.

Carlos Triunfel started the fifth with a line-drive single to right field off Erik Cordier (4-4). Dustin Ackley, MLB.com's No. 15 prospect, drew a walk and Peguero lined a single to right to plate Triunfel.

Alex Liddi singled to left to load the bases and Johan Limonta plated two with a ground ball to center to end Cordier's afternoon.

Reliever Thomas Palica hit the first batter he faced, Jose Yepez, threw a wild pitch to score Liddi and walked Scott Savastano and Leury Bonilla before exiting the game.

Brandon Haveman greeted Michael Broadway with an RBI single to right and Triunfel walked before Ackley grounded into a forceout -- the first out of the inning.

Peguero followed with his three-run shot to right. It was his 14th longball of the year, good for second in the Southern League to newly called-up Marlins prospect Mike Stanton of Jacksonville.

Liddi, who plated West Tenn's other run with an RBI single in the third, grounded out to second and Limonta flew out to left to end the frame.

Mauricio Robles (5-2) proved the beneficiary of the run production after allowing two runs on five hits over 5 1/3 innings for the Dianond Jaxx (32-23). He struck out five and walked three.

The victory evened up the season series between the squads, 6-6.
