Ranger Suárez allowed just two hits in his third career complete game to help Class A Lakewood blank Delmarva, 5-0, on Wednesday in the second game of a doubleheader.
Suarez (1-0) struck out nine and did not walk a batter while lowering his ERA to 0.81 in his fourth start. The Phillies prospect has gone seven innings in each of his last two starts, striking out 19 without allowing a run in that span.

Wednesday's gem stirred memories of Suarez's first complete game, which came on July 26, 2016 when the left-hander threw a no-hitter in a seven-inning game for Class A Short Season Williamsport. The 21-year-old's last complete game came Aug. 22, 2016 when he held Auburn to five hits over seven frames.
Delmarva's only hits Wednesday happened in the first inning, when Joey Rickard hit a one-out single to the right side, and in the sixth, when Gerrion Grim connected on a leadoff double.
Signed out of Venezuela in 2012, Suarez remains unranked among Phillies prospects despite going 6-4 with a 2.81 ERA in 13 starts last year. He's off to a strong start this year with 30 strikeouts in 22 1/3 innings, a stretch in which he's walked seven and allowed one home run.
Box score
The 6-foot-1 southpaw began his career in the Venezuelan Summer League for three years before going 3-0 with a 0.65 ERA in 27 2/3 innings with the Gulf Coast League Phillies in 2015.
Left fielder David Martinelli doubled and plated two runs, while Cord Sandberg, Danny Zardon and Jose Antequera each added an RBI in a win that helped the BlueClaws (11-10) climb back over .500.
Delmarva starter Lucas Humpal (0-2) was charged with five runs on 10 hits and a walk over five innings. The Shorebirds (10-11) won the first game of the twin bill, 2-1, when they combined to hold Lakewood to a pair of hits.
