Meadows slugs way to four RBIs for Indians

On the eve of his 22nd birthday, Austin Meadows showed signs of breaking out of an early-season swoon.
The Pirates' No. 2 prospect ripped a bases-loaded double and collected a season-high four RBIs on Tuesday as Triple-A Indianapolis topped Toledo, 9-2, at Victory Field.

After flying out to left field in the first inning, Meadows plated Chris Bostick with a groundout to second in the third. MLB.com's No. 7 overall prospect flied to left again in the fifth before stepping to the plate with the bases loaded and one out in the sixth.

The Mud Hens had replaced starter A.J. Ladwig (0-1) with left-hander Mike Zagurski three batters earlier. The 2013 first-round pick drove Zagurski's first pitch over the head of center fielder JaCoby Jones for a bases-clearing double, his fourth extra-base hit of the season. 

Despite entering with a .195 average, the left-handed hitting Meadows was batting .294 against southpaws in his first 21 games. 
Meadows walked in the eighth and raised his slash line modestly to .198/.255/.267. He also stole his third base of the season. Despite the slow start, the Atlanta native has performed well against the Mud Hens. Of his 11 RBIs this season, eight have come against the Tigers' top affiliate.
As a team, Indianapolis set season highs in runs scored and hits (17) on Tuesday. Jason Rogers and Erich Weiss smacked three hits apiece, while Bostick finished with two and scored twice out of the leadoff spot.
