Playoff Hopes for Snapper Slim After Loss

September 5, 2010

With only two games to go in the regular season the Snappers missed an opportunity to keep their playoff chances alive as the Cedar Rapids Kernels pulled out a one-run victory Saturday night 5-4.

Two errors by Kernels' third baseman Michael Wing opened the door for the Snappers as they scored three runs in the seventh to knot the game at four apiece.

The Kernels managed to scratch a run across in the ninth as Casey Haerther drove home Matt Long who reached earlier on a base knock.

The "Brodie Trophy Player of the Game" is Aaron Hicks who knocked his eighth homer of the season and walked twice.

The Snappers look to keep their playoff hopes alive Sunday afternoon as right hander Tom Stuifbergen takes the mound, game time is set for 2:00PM.
